Show Notes

Welcome back to How To Build An App!

As you know, in season 2, we’re talking to FOUNDERS about their journey in starting and scaling their company…

And have a great episode for you today…

Our guest today is Jeff Erickson of Carta.com

If you haven’t heard of Carta, here are a few highlights.

Carta helps companies and investors manage their cap tables, valuations, investments, and equity plans.

They work with some of the biggest VC-backed startups in the world including Robinhood, Intercom, and Class Pass.

How big is this company you ask?

Let’s put it this way…

In 2019 Carta closed a $300 million Series E round that valued the company at $1.7 BILLION post-money.

In this latest round, the famous Marc Andreessen joined the board because he believes that Carta will transform private markets of companies not yet public.

So to put it plainly… Jeff knows a thing or two about raising money.

In this episode he breaks down the mechanics of fundraising and gives some great advice you’ll want to remember as you start out on your journey.
